Overview

ADSS Server is a modular trust services platform providing core PKI and cryptographic services including certificate authority, OCSP validation, SCVP certificate path validation, timestamping, long-term evidence archiving, and digital signature creation and verification. It is used by enterprises, governments, and trust service providers as the foundation for digital signing, digital identity, and secure transaction services.

Unsung is an Ascertia Bronze Partner and Value-Added Solutions Provider. We design, implement, and support ADSS Server deployments for UK customers requiring high-trust PKI, digital signing, and trust service capabilities.

The Challenge

Organisations that need to establish their own trust infrastructure face a common set of requirements: issuing and managing digital certificates, validating certificate status in real time, creating legally binding digital signatures, and maintaining long-term evidence of signed transactions. In regulated environments, these services must meet specific compliance frameworks such as eIDAS, and the underlying cryptographic operations need to be protected by hardware security modules.

Many organisations find themselves operating separate products for each of these functions, creating integration complexity, operational overhead, and inconsistent policy enforcement. Trust service providers in particular need a platform that can support multiple tenants and service tiers from a single infrastructure.

What It Does

ADSS Server addresses these challenges by providing a unified platform that combines PKI services with digital signature and trust service capabilities. The CA/PKI module enables organisations to build and operate multiple certificate authorities from a single installation, with HSM-backed key protection, OCSP and CRL validation services, and support for standard enrolment protocols including SCEP, EST, and ACME.

The platform's signing services support the creation and verification of advanced and qualified digital signatures on documents and transactions, with support for PAdES, XAdES, and CAdES formats. Timestamping and long-term archiving modules provide the evidence services required for regulatory compliance and legal admissibility. ADSS Server is Common Criteria EAL4 certified against the NIAP Protection Profile for Certification Authorities, and supports post-quantum cryptography algorithms.

A distinguishing feature of ADSS Server is its ability to integrate with third-party trust infrastructures and external certificate authorities, including DigiCert ONE and Entrust CA Gateway, enabling organisations to manage certificates from multiple sources through a single platform.

How Unsung Helps

Unsung provides professional services for ADSS Server deployments, from initial requirements assessment through to implementation and operational support. Our consultants help clients evaluate their digital signing and trust service requirements, design appropriate architectures, and implement ADSS Server in line with regulatory and operational needs. For organisations exploring their PKI options, our PKI Consultancy service provides independent guidance on platform selection and architecture design.
