Unsung and Ascertia Announce Strategic Partnership to Deliver High-Trust Digital Signing and PKI Solutions

Unsung is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with Ascertia, the developer of the ADSS Server platform and the SigningHub e-signature service. This collaboration strengthens Unsung’s ability to deliver high-trust PKI, digital signature and trust services for UK organisations, particularly those operating under eIDAS and other regulated signing frameworks.

Ascertia brings established expertise in digital signature and trust services. ADSS Server provides core PKI and trust capabilities including CA and RA functions, certificate issuance and validation, OCSP and SCVP, timestamping, long-term archiving, and advanced and qualified signature creation and verification. It is used by enterprises, governments and trust service providers as the cryptographic engine behind digital signing, eID validation and secure transaction services. This aligns with Unsung’s role as a trusted, vendor-neutral PKI partner, providing services from discovery and design through to managed services and post-quantum readiness planning.

High-trust digital signing

SigningHub delivers legally binding advanced and qualified electronic signatures, including remote signing backed by HSM and QSCD, with full audit trails and multi-user workflows. Combined with Unsung’s PKI expertise, clients gain a signing capability that is both operationally practical and defensible under scrutiny.

eIDAS and regulatory alignment

The ADSS SAM Appliance delivers Signature Activation Module capabilities evaluated to Common Criteria EAL4+ against EN 419 241-2 for eIDAS qualified remote signatures. For organisations with compliance obligations under eIDAS, ESIGN and UETA, this provides a proven route to qualified signing without building the underlying trust infrastructure from scratch.

Certificate enrolment and lifecycle control

The ADSS Web RA Server provides web-based registration authority functions for enrolment and lifecycle management of user and server certificates, with configurable workflows, vetting forms and subscriber agreements. Multi-tenant operation makes it well suited to service providers managing multiple enterprise accounts.

HSM integration and key protection

Ascertia’s stack is frequently deployed alongside HSMs such as Thales Luna for key protection and qualified signature services. This fits directly with Unsung’s hardware security module services, allowing clients to protect signing keys to the assurance level their regulator or risk appetite demands.
