Overview

The Futurex Classic Enterprise Platform is a suite of on-premises data security products including hardware security modules, key management servers, and supporting components designed to protect core enterprise and payment infrastructure. Built on the same Base Architecture Model as CryptoHub and VirtuCrypt, the Classic Enterprise Platform addresses organisations with dedicated on-premises cryptographic requirements.

Unsung implements the Classic Enterprise Platform for UK customers in financial services, government, and enterprise environments that require dedicated, on-premises HSM infrastructure for regulatory, sovereignty, or operational reasons.

The Challenge

Certain environments — payment processing, government classified networks, critical national infrastructure — require dedicated, on-premises HSM infrastructure. These organisations need purpose-built cryptographic hardware that meets specific compliance standards (PCI HSM, FIPS 140-2/3, Common Criteria) and supports the specialised cryptographic operations required by their applications, from payment transaction processing to certificate authority key protection.

On-premises HSM deployments must be properly designed, configured, and integrated with the applications and processes they support. The initial deployment is only the beginning; ongoing key management, firmware maintenance, and operational procedures must be established to maintain the security and compliance posture throughout the infrastructure’s lifetime.

What It Does

The Classic Enterprise Platform provides the physical HSM hardware and key management servers for organisations that require dedicated on-premises cryptographic infrastructure. The HSMs support a broad range of cryptographic operations including key generation, digital signing, encryption, and payment transaction processing, with certifications appropriate for financial and government environments.

Key management servers provide full key lifecycle management alongside the HSMs, managing key generation, distribution, rotation, archival, and destruction across the organisation’s applications and infrastructure. The platform supports payment-specific use cases including PIN management, EMV card authentication, and point-to-point encryption, as well as general-purpose enterprise cryptographic requirements.

How Unsung Helps

Unsung helps clients design, deploy, and operationalise on-premises HSM infrastructure, ensuring the hardware and key management components are properly configured and integrated with their applications. Our Hardware Security Modules service covers requirements assessment, platform selection, deployment, and knowledge transfer to operational teams.
